Your Solution, Our Legacy

Serenity Park has a rich history in the Little Rock recovery community and surrounding areas. Our Founder, famed AA speaker Joseph “Joe” McQuany, started a program called Serenity House in 1972. It was later re-named Serenity Park upon moving to its current location, on Roosevelt Road, in 1990.

Addiction Treatment for Men

The Serenity Park campus is located next to a jail and across the street from a cemetery. There is a sign that still stands today with three arrows pointing in each direction that reads “Locked Up, Covered Up, Sobered Up” - the options that Joe believed were the only choices for those who suffer from alcoholism or addiction. A leader of AA, Joe believed in the 12-step program and had a gift to teach what had so freely been given him. That, combined with his presence and sense of humor, made him an electric speaker for crowds nationwide, and an unbelievable resource for our local community. Joe believed everyone had the right to world-class treatment and education about the disease of alcoholism and addiction, and he built a place to provide that here at Serenity Park. We are proud to carry on his legacy.

Tara Tinnin purchased Serenity Park in late 2018. Ms. Tinnin had a friend whose mother had passed away from addiction. Unfortunately, the family had struggled to find help because her insurance would not allow her to leave the state for treatment. At the time, there were very few places providing quality care. Ms. Tinnin was already planning to move back to Little Rock and open a sober living home for women, as she had such an amazing experience in sober living after treatment herself. She found Serenity Park, toured the property, and was taken aback by the atmosphere and legacy of the place. After speaking with several friends and mentors, Ms. Tinnin felt compelled to take on this endeavor, and to honor Joe McQuany's legacy. Serenity Park Recovery Center opened its doors as a fully functioning 30-day residential treatment center with medication assisted detox in June of 2019.

In 2024, a new era began as Serenity Park was purchased by Pathways Recovery Centers. Joining Holland Pathways in Wichita, Sunflower Recovery Center near Kansas City, and Country Road Recovery Center near Oklahoma City, Serenity Park is the latest step in the Pathways mission of bringing best-in-class care to communities throughout the Midwest. With plans for renovation and expansion, the legacy continues!
